4 Questions That Will Change Your Life

PK - CYF go Letters to God

Inspired by the movie Letters to God, shared by the Saa sisters, Ate January and I were inspired to do the same for the CYF via the Catacombs Special. We decided to create a venue for the youth of the church to learn to express themselves, to learn how to communicate to God and to grow in that personal relationship with Christ. We created a tiny mailbox in the catacombs where we gave the youth time for them to write a letter to God, be it in thanks, a prayer request, etc. Fortunately, the CYF and the PK took the letters to God seriously. In the movie, the letters were later used to touch the people who were mentioned in prayer. What we plan to do, however, is to have an intercessory prayer for the letter writers. The letters will circulate among the pastors and a core group of prayer warriors that we are going to establish. Each letter will be prayed for by prayer warriors and pastors. This way, we also aim to promote the power of prayer in the lives of the youth. May God bless th...

Letters to God

Storyline A young boy fighting cancer writes letters to God, touching lives in his neighborhood and community and inspiring hope among everyone he comes in contact. An unsuspecting substitute postman, with a troubled life of his own, becomes entangled in the boy's journey and his family by reading the letters. They inspire him to seek a better life for himself and his own son he's lost through his alcohol addiction. Movie Night` Letters to God shared by Jules Saa Another inspiring movie night that made us realize that sometimes people who are sick are the one's who is more understanding, forgiving and possess positive attitude than those who take care of them or people that surrounds them. When they are suppose to provide comfort, encouragement rather we are the ones being comforted, assured and inspired by them that through sickness they have seen the other beauty and blessing that God provided for each one of us. That being sick is just a physical hindrance for our mobi...

A Father's Love - The Bridge

The Father’s Love John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” The story of the bridge portrays the love of God for us. We watched this during our morning devotion in the youth retreat camp. It moved us so hard that we all began to cry. I myself couldn’t stop crying even until breakfast. The film strip shows a very realistic view of what the world really is about. It makes us ask ourselves “what have we done in our lives so far?” Many of us are like the passengers on the train: the lonely, the angry, the selfish, the hurting, and the addicted. We are usually living our lives without caring, often ignorant of how big the sacrifice of God is to save us by letting Jesus die for our sins. Most of the time we see and hear this story in the perspective of Jesus; this time we see it in the perspective of the Father. “The salvation of all required the sacrifice of the one so dear.” The pain...

CYF - Movie Night

Image
Last Friday, instead of the regular acoustic night at the catacombs, we had a movie night at the parsonage (pastor Bernie's). We watched a film, entitled Fireproof - an inspiring movie that talked about faith and marriage. The film had a lot of significant Christian values imparted to us. It also is a good film for the youth since in this time and age, relationships are very immature, and misguided. It puts into perspective what LOVE really is and gives value to commitment. The movie was created by the same makers of Facing the giants, another wonderful Christian film. After the movie, we enjoyed the fellowship snacks (Roberto's pancit) and the insights learned from the movie. The attendees were: Pstr. Bernie, kuya Oyen, Ate January, Norman, Janjan, Jules, Danna, Freitzel, Rodulfo, Rayelynn, Nikolai, GJ, Karlo, and Kuya Greg. We look forward to more movie nights with the youth fellowship.

Because We Are Young - Still

Image
The Silliman University Church held a sequel to last summer's retreat, entitled Because You Are Young, on October 14 - 16 at NCCP Banilad. It was a fun-filled experience as well as a very inspiring one. The retreat revolved around the key verse from 1 Timothy 4: 12 wherein the topics centered on becoming an example in SPEECH, LIFE, LOVE, FAITH, and PURITY. Our speakers were members of the board and deacons, namely: Ate Ana Montebon, Kuya Oyen Alcantara, Kuya Roy de Leon, Kuya Leonel de Jesus, and Pastor Bernadette Amistoso-Morales. Three events where also added to our retreat that were not in the previous session: the stargazing, the Amazing G-race (from SU church to Banilad) and the water olympics. These events served as a team building activity for the youth. We had no high-school and elementary participants unlike before since their exams was moved and their schedule conflicted with the availability of students.
